Setup RSS feed for articles

Notes:

  • These notes should provide guidance on setting up an RSS Feed for the Articles published to a website.
  • It is possible to configure multiple RSS feeds on the website. If additional RSS feeds are required, additional RSS pages will need to be created.



Website settings

Here are the steps to setup the website default articles RSS Feed settings. This will be used for ALL RSS feeds, unless overwritten by the page settings. 

  1. Open the web module.
  2. Locate the website
  3. Open the website Settings
  4. Go to the Advanced tab & then to RSS Feed
  5. Fill in the feeds of the RSS Feed section
  6. Note!: It is important to add the image to the feed, as some providers will not publish feed without an image.
  7. When done, click the "Update" button.


Website articles section

  1. In the website pagetree, find the list view page of the articles, for the articles that will be published in the feed.
  2. Create a subpage beneath the page with the articles list block in it. (RSS page will be on the level of the article detail page)
  3. Call the page "RSS"
  4. for the RSS feed, the page does not need to have any content on it. Don't add any page preset to the page
  5. On the newly created page, click on "Page settings"
  6. Go to Advanced > XML Content and set a checkmark in "Outputs XML"
  7. XML Resource: Select "Articles Feed"
  8. You will see in the feeds the values from the website settings. Overwrite these if needed.
  9. If needed, set: Sort values, Limit, Site Flag (if used) and the Detail page
  10. To test:
    1. In the website pagetree, click on the articles list page in the backend
    2. Click on "View online" button
    3. In the frontend, after the page name, add "RSS"
      • ex:
      • https://division.demo.web.adventist.cloud/news/all-news?apicache-bypass=1731617993915
      • https://division.demo.web.adventist.cloud/news/all-news/RSS?apicache-bypass=1731617993915
    4. Hit enter to submit the change
    5. You should see the XML output of the articles
    6. Verify the RSS feed information is correct.
