Set up Church Finder pages
The Church Finder pages require the church entities have been imported into the database. This could be from an ACMS import or some import script has been run. Updates to church entities should be done in the system of record. This avoids loss of data when the entities are imported by a synchronization script or other import in the future.
Church Finder
The church entities can be managed under the Admin area left bottom corner of the backend.
- Expand "Admin Area"
- Click on "Entities"
By entering the name of the church in the search field, the church entity can be quickly located. Clicking on the name of the church, in the search results, will open the entity for editing. Again the source of truth or the system that is the official data source should be the one to update.
Configuring website pages
General workflow
- On the website should be a page for listing the church entities and searching for a church geographically.
- Below the list view page, should be a subpage for church entity details.
- Depending on the design template of the website, there may be page presets for the List and Detail views.
- If page presets are not available:
- The list view page should implement the "Church Finder" block.
- The detail view page should use the Church Detail block. Also, the Church Header block can be set in the page header.
Church Finder list view page
- Requires no dynamic configuration. Simply place the Church Finder block on the page.
- Review the settings of the Church Finder block:
- Default visible region: set the pin central, zoom in as needed.
- Show search: Checkmark set.
- Entity: set the proper parent entity for the churches to display.
- Limit search to country: if search results should be limited to a country.
- Sort order: adjust if needed.
- Detail page: set the detail page, or the users cannot get church detail information.

- Open Page settings > Advanced tab > Dynamic content area
- Has dynamic url: set Checkmark

- Click on update button.
- Review the settings of the Church Detail block.
- Remove any checkmarks for information that should not be displayed.
Additional notes
For church entities there is a special feature for excluding the church from the church finder ("Exclude from church finder"). This is currently implemented via a feature flag "Church Finder Exclusion". Only implemented in the British Union Conference as they have a special case that needs to use this.
