TODO: review these notes
The Categories module supplies the categories used by other modules. There are three levels of categories in the system:
- Global categories
- Network categories
- Local categories
By default the system uses the Global categories so that all partners are able to use a "common language" or common grouping of articles, shows, etc. If a partner wants to share things with the global platform, then it is best when they implement the Global categories.
It is possible to extend the categories available, so that the local context of the partner can be implemented. These would be "local categories". If a network of partners needed to define categories for within their network of entities, then they would need to update the Network categories.
